Summer 2022: important premieres and first performances

Two new works by Beat Furrer are scheduled for June 2022. “mirando” for countertenor and contrabass clarinet will be performed at the Schlossmediale Werdenberg, Switzerland, on 11 June, and in Kassel, the “Brandneu” Festival focusses on a whole series of premieres for the new Rieger organ at St. Martin’s Church (photo). In the opening concert on 25 June, Bernhard Haas plays “angelus descendens” by Beat Furrer and Philipp Maintz’s “choralvorspiel VII (o haupt voll blut und wunden)” and “choralvorspiel XIX (wie schön leucht uns der morgenstern)”. Lubica Cekovská’s “Toccata lacerta” receives its premiere on 16 July in the Festival. Important first performances of new orchestral works take place in Tokyo, Lucerne and Cologne. Matthias Pintscher’s “Idyll” has its Asian premiere on 20 August. At the Lucerne Festival, Dieter Ammann’s “The Piano Concerto (Gran Toccata)” receives its Swiss premiere on 30 August with Andreas Haefliger and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Susanna Mälkki. This is followed shortly afterwards by his orchestral triptych “Core – Turn – Boost” on 3 September in Lucerne, and the German premiere the following day in Cologne with the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra, conducted by Sylvain Cambreling.
