...was born in Vienna in 1955, and studied piano, trumpet, theory, composition, conducting and voice in Vienna and Milan. From 1976 he was a lecturer at the College of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he was appointed professor of singing and music theatre production in 1986. In addition to his scholarly and teaching activities, Rot has also been active on a freelance basis, initially as a conductor and vocal accompanist, more recently almost exclusively as a composer. His works include operas for Graz (1982) and Vienna (1992).
