A late premiere: Jean Barraqué’s “Trois mélodies”
At last, songs found amongst Jean Barraqué’s unpublished works can be performed as a complete set. His important Trois mélodies, three songs for soprano and piano after the Song of Solomon, Charles Baudelaire and Arthur Rimbaud of 1950, are highly individual, expressive works. They form the “nucleus” for the composer’s Séquence for soprano and ensemble which was published later. The premiere, initiated by Ensemble Contrechamps, will be given on 20 November 2016 in Geneva by Christina Daletska (voice) and Stefan Wirth (piano).
