Scartazzini’s ‘Edward II’ on CD
The recording immediately received the Supersonic Award from the online magazine Pizzicato. Scartazzini based his work on a libretto by Thomas Jonigk after Christopher Marlowe’s like-named drama.
It tells the story of the homosexual English king Edward II, a tragedy of contemporary relevance. As the composer puts it, It’s a sign of growing social diversity that is also leaving a mark on the arts’.
