Ľubica Čekovská’s “Palingenia” in Essen

(8.7.2015) Ľubica Čekovská has created a fleeting, multi-faceted structure of sound for the Essen Philharmonic. Palingenia, the mayfly, is the symbol for a new composition for large orchestra by the Slovak composer, inspired by a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen: “I have thousands of moments when I am cheerful and happy,” is how the insect in Andersen’s tale justifies his short, but intense existence.
