15.10.2012The ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra under its conductor Cornelius Meister is featuring works by Miroslav Srnka in its 2012/13 season. Srnka’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra was premiered in the Musikverein Vienna on 23 November with Nicolas Hodges as soloist. The orchestra also gave the first Austrian performance of Reading Lessons for Orchestra in the Konzerthaus Vienna on 12 December.

15.10.20122014 is also the 300th anniversary of Christoph Willibald Gluck’s birth. New productions: Iphigenie en Aulide, by the Theater an der Wien on 8 November (Torsten Fischer/Alessandro de Marchi); Paris version of Alceste, by the Staatsoper 12 November (Christof Loy/Ivor Bolton).
15.10.2012Andrea Lorenzo Scartazzini’s second opera Der Sandmann, after themes by E.T.A. Hoffmann, received its premiere on 20 October 2012 at the Theater Basel.

19.06.2012Rossini's Maometto II was performed in summer 2012 for the first time in Hans Schevellis’ Critical New Edition. The new production was directed by David Alden and conducted by Frédéric Chaslin. Luca Pisaroni sang the title role.
19.06.2012Matthias Pintscher is composer of the Roche Commissions 2012. Chute d’Étoiles receives its premiere on 25 August 2012 at the Lucerne Festival 2012 by the Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by Franz Welser-Möst. The Austrian première was on 29 August in Salzburg (Festspiele).
19.06.2012Miroslav Srnka has composed Eighteen Agents for the Munich Chamber Orchestra. The premiere on 21 June 2012 in the Prinzregententheater Munich was conducted by Alexander Liebreich.
