The Complete Works edition which begun in 1951 will include all the compositions by the great opera reformer Christoph Willibald Gluck (1714–1787). For the first time these works will be made available in a scholarly-critical edition, based on modern editorial principles and drawing on all available sources. This ensures that the edition will satisfy musicological demands as well as providing scores which will meet the needs of authentic period performances. The edition will comprise approximately 60 volumes and is divided into 7 series.
