Biography

Charlotte Seither was born in 1965 in Landau/Pfalz. She works regularly with important interpreters such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra London, ASKO Kamerkoor Amsterdam, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart and Nederland Vocaal Laboratorium Amsterdam. She has been a guest at many international festivals like Gaudeamus Amsterdam, Grame Lyon, IFWM Seoul and Lacma Los Angeles. In 1998 she received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. She received many honours and prizes, e.g. the 1st Prize in the Internationalen Composition Context Prague Spring (1995), the 1st Prize in the International Composition Contest Ciutat de Palma / Spain for orchestra (2004) and was scholar of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (1987-91). In 2003 she was granted the Förderpreis of Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. As artist in residence she lived and worked in the Cité des Arts Paris (1999), the Academy Solitude Castle Stuttgart (1995, 2008), in the Palazzo Barbarigo Venice (1993) and in the Villa Aurora Los Angeles (2000). In 2009 she was for one year resident of the German Minstry of Culture at the German Academy Villa Massimo in Rome. In 2010 she will be awarded with the Niedersächsischer Musikpreis for Composition. Her works have been played in most countries of Europe, in Asia, Canada, South America and the USA.
